World Poker Tour -- Andrew Frankenberger Wins Legends of Poker

Date JULY 27 2022
Andrew Frankenberger held the chip lead at the start of the final table at the 2010 World Poker Tour Legends of Poker $5,000 no-limit hold’em main event at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles. He didn’t keep the chip lead from wire-to-wire but he regained control when it mattered and at the end of the night he held all of the chips in play. Frankenberger was awarded $750,000 and his first major tournament title for the win. He won a $2,000 no-limit hold’em preliminary event at the Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza in June and took home $162,110. Frankenberger has now cashed five times in 2010 and he holds just under $1 million in winnings for the year. Here is a look at the seating chart (with chip counts) when the final table began: Seat 1. Jared Jaffee — 1,006,000 Seat 2. Kyle Wilson — 2,854,000 Seat 3. Tom Lee — 2,915,000 Seat 4. Franco Brunetti — 800,000 Seat 5. Andrew Frankenberger — 3,015,000 Seat 6. Tom Braband — 968,000 Play began slowly at the final table and it took more than 50 hands for Franco Brunetti to fall in sixth place. Tom Braband doubled up through Brunetti to cripple him and he fell a later hand when Braband hit a jack-high straight on the river to eclipse his pair of tens. The next player to fall did so rather quickly and it was Jared Jaffee. He was all in with jacks up, but Kyle Wilson ushered him to the rail in fifth place with trip sevens. Over an hour later Braband’s time of reckoning was at hand. Once again Wilson scored the knockout punch, this time with a set of nines busting Braband in fourth place. The battle for third place was the toughest of the night, lasting three-and-a-half hours. Frankenberger doubled up twice during this stretch to survive. The blinds eventually caught up with the final three and something had to give. Tom Lee exited in third place when his ace-high fell to the ace-high flush held by Frankenberger. The multiple double ups in addition to the chips he picked up off of Lee gave Frankenberger a better than three-to-one chip advantage over Wilson at the start of the heads-up final. Wilson had improved on the sixth-place finish he recorded at the Legends of Poker last year, but he once again missed the championship title. He fell in second place a short time into heads-up play. His A-3 was behind the A-9 of Frankenberger throughout the last hand of the event. Frankenberger even found a 9 on the flop to solidify his victory as the WPT Legends of Poker champion. Final-Table Results: 1: Andrew Frankenberger — $750,000 2: Kyle Wilson — $370,000 3: Tom Lee — $174,772 4: Tom Braband — $109,000 5: Jared Jaffee — $86,000 6: Franco Brunetti — $63,000 Here is a look at the bustout hands as featured on CardPlayer.com’s live updates : Franco Brunetti Eliminated in Sixth Place ($63,000) Kyle Wilson raised to 80,000 from the button and Franco Brunetti reraised all in from the big blind for 120,000.
