Day 2 at the World Poker Tour Legends of Poker $5,000 no-limit hold’em main event began at 1 p.m on Sunday, August 22. A total of 241 players joined the action and at the end of the night just 60 remained. Phil Collins (pictured right) is the overnight chip leader with 898,000 after starting the day with just 13,000 and an empty stomach. He was up most of the night before day 2 with a bout of food poisoning. His sickness made today’s performance even more impressive. A poker version of Michael Jordan playing in Game 5 of the NBA Finals with the flu in 1997 and scoring 38 points to lead the Chicago Bulls to victory over the Utah Jazz. Collins was at his best at the end of the night, when he eliminated two players during the final level of play. Here are the hands from Card Player’s live reports : Eric Blair Eliminated by Phil Collins Eric Blair raised from the cutoff and Phil Collins reraised from the big blind before Blair reraised all in to 100,000. Collins made the call and they flipped over their cards: Collins: 5 4 Young: 6 6 Turn and River: 7 and J Collins won the hand with a flush and he built his stack to 800,000. Young was eliminated from the tournament on the hand. There were a ton of notable professionals that hit the rail during the day. They included Phil Hellmuth, Raymond Dolan, Ray Henson, Ryan Young, Maria Ho, Kristy Gazes, Matt Keikoan, Scott Clements, Vinnie Vinh, Van Nguyen, Zach Hyman, Zachary Clark, Tim West, Tom West, Shawn Buchanan, William Reynolds, Steve Gross, Shane Schleger, Steve O’Dwyer, Steve Brecher, Chad Brown, Chad Batista, Dan Heimiller, Adam Levy, Adam Geyer, Barry Greenstein, Allen Cunningham, Jeff Madsen, Erick Lindgren, Jennifer Tilly, Frank Kassela, J.J. Liu, Jason Mercier, David Oppenheim, and Justin Young. Even with all of those eliminations many professionals have survived to day 3 which will take place on Monday. They include Joe Hachem, Allen Kessler, Ted Lawson, Chris Moore, Amit Makhija, Darryll Fish, Ali Eslami, Charlie Hook, Peter Rho, Joe Sebok, Tim Phan, David Sands, Marco Johnson, and November Nine member Soi Nguyen.
