The first day of event No. 52 ($25,000 no-limit hold’em six handed) is in the books and Daniel Negreanu is one of the chip leaders. The four-time bracelet winner has had a rough 2010 World Series of Poker so far. The Canadian has just three cashes and no final tables. However, a deep run in the $25,000 short-handed event would turn the tide. Negreanu was near the top of the chip counts for most of the day, thanks in part to his elimination of Lee Markholt . Negreanu bet 3,500 and Markholt three-bet to 11,500. Negreanu put Markholt all in. Markholt made the call. Negreanu tabled pocket queens and was in great shape against the pocket tens of Markholt. The board ran out K K 4 7 6 and Negreanu eliminated his opponent. Negreanu was at 295,000 after the hand. Tom “durrrr” Dwan also was in the field on day one. However, he was eliminated early on and is running out of chances to win millions from his bracelet bets this summer. Mike Degilio bet 1,025 from under the gun. Alex Roumeliotis called on the button. Chris Moorman raised to 4,100 from the small blind. Tom Dwan called from the big blind. Degilio and Roumeliotis called also. The flop came A 10 4 and Moorman bet 8,500. Dwan raised to 19,825. Degilio folded and Roumeliotis moved all in for 90,000. Moorman folded and Dwan went into the tank. Dwan eventually called all in for his last 56,000. Dwan exposed the A Q and was way ahead of the 10 8 of Roumeliotis. The 9 on the turn was safe for Dwan, however the 8 on the river gave Roumeliotis two pair. Dwan was gone and Roumeliotis was up to 215,000 after the hand. At the conclusion of the day just 78 players remain out of the 191 that entered. A prize pool of $4,536,250 was generated, with first place paying $1,315,518 Card Player TV caught up with Dani Stern during day one. Stern was unable to make it through the day however. <param name=“flashvars” value=’ ‘config={"clip":{"autoPlay":false,“provider”:“rtmp”,“url”:“mp4:video/w/WSOP25k”},“canvas”:{"backgroundColor":“#000000”},“screen”:{"width":440, height , top , right ,“plugins”:{"controls":{"url":“http://www.cardplayer.com/flash/flowplayer/flowplayer.controls-3.0.3.swf”,“logoURL”:“http://www.cardplayer.com/tv/channels/13-poker-news/videos/4233-2010-wsop-25k-shot-handed-day-1-update-with-dani-ansky-stern”,“backgroundColor”:“#333333”,“backgroundGradient”:“low”,“buttonColor”:“#666666”,“bufferColor”:“#330000”,“timeColor”:“#dddddd”,“durationColor”:“#ED1C24”,“progressColor”:“#ED1C24”},“rtmp”:{"url":“http://www.cardplayer.com/flash/flowplayer/flowplayer.rtmp-3.0.2.swf”,“netConnectionUrl”:“rtmp://cptv.cardplayer.com/vod”}}}’ ’ /> Stay tuned to Card Player tomorrow starting at 2:30 p.m. for updates from day two of event No. 52.
