Vanessa Selbst (pictured right) has won the 2010 PokerStars North American Poker Tour Mohegan Sun $5,000 no-limit hold’em main event. She defeated a tough final table that included Scott Seiver , Cliff Josephy , and Jonathan Aguiar to take home the top prize worth $750,000. She entered the final with 4,545,000 in second chip-position and then she put on a poker clinic en route to her victory. She eliminated three of her opponents at the final table to become the first female champion of an NAPT event, and she now holds $1,672,855 in career earnings. Here is what the final table looked like when cards got into the air at noon EDT : Seat 1: Scott Seiver — 1,125,000 Seat 2: Cliff Josephy — 1,940,000 Seat 3: Vanessa Selbst — 4,545,000 Seat 4: Derek Raymond — 1,545,000 Seat 5: Mike Beasley — 4,985,000 Seat 6: Michael Woods — 2,950,000 Seat 7: Jonathan Aguiar — 1,535,000 Seat 8: Alistar Melville — 2,940,000 One player was eliminated within the first ten minutes at the final table when Jonathan Aguiar moved all in preflop with A-Q and Michael Woods made the call with pocket tens. The board delivered a third 10 for Woods and Aguiar was eliminated in eighth place ($60,244). An hour later another big name fell when Cliff Josephy moved all in preflop with A 5 and Derek Raymond made the call with A 9 . The board ran out A 8 7 3 J and Josephy was eliminated in seventh place ($85,000). The even spacing of the eliminations continued when Derek Raymond was all in preflop an hour later. He held A 10 , Selbst held 6 6 , and the board was dealt K Q 7 8 4 . Raymond was awarded $115,000 for his efforts. It took another hour after that for the next elimination hand to take place and during that time Selbst grew her stack to 10.3 million with an aggressive attack. She held more than twice the chips of each of her competitors at the final table. The fifth-place finisher at the final table was Alistar Melville, who took home $150,000. Melville moved all in preflop with pocket queens on his final hand and he was well ahead of the A-Q of Mike Beasley until an ace fell on the flop. Scott Seiver was all in a few minutes later with pocket fours and Michael Woods made the call with A-3. The board ran out A-10-6-Q-7 and Seiver was eliminated in fourth place ($190,000). Selbst really poured on the aggression once three-handed action began. She eliminated Woods in third place ($240,000), which grew her stack to 18,810,000 (over 87 percent of the chips in play). After making a 310,000 raise that was called by Selbst preflop, Woods bet 700,000 on a 9 8 6 flop. Selbst raised to 1.8 million and Woods reraised all in to 3,425,000. Selbst made the call and they flipped over their cards: Selbst: 8 8 Woods: 10 9 Turn and River: A 10 Selbst then took her 18,810,000 in the final battle against Beasley, who held 2,755,000. The final match lasted 30 minutes and the demise of Beasley took place over two hands. In the first hand he bet 1 million on a K-8-3 flop and Selbst reraised all in. Beasley decided to fold and that left him with just 1.2 million. He moved all in preflop with Q 10 on the next hand and Selbst made the call with A 8 . The board was dealt K 6 3 7 8 and Selbst made a pair to win the tournament. Beasley was eliminated in second place and he took home $428,000. Selbst won the tournament to take home $750,000 and she added an NAPT title to her trophy case that already holds a World Series of Poker gold bracelet. There is still more poker to be played at the NAPT stop at Mohegan Sun. The $25,000 high roller bounty tournament begins tomorrow at noon EDT .
