The World Poker Tour Bucharest €3,000 no-limit hold’em main event has come to a close at the Regent Casino in Bucharest, Romania. The tournament attracted a field of 161 players, and the total prize pool for the event was €449,450. The eventual champion was Guillaume Darcourt (pictured right) , a 37-year-old businessman from France. He won the top prize worth €125,846 along with a $25,000 seat in the WPT World Championship . “This win is amazing,” said Darcourt. “I was eighth in chips after the first day and chip leader at the end of day two. I was running really good on day three too but started to slip away. One hand changed the whole tournament for me. I was up against A-A with A-9 but hit a straight. I will always remember that hand.” The two Romanian players at the final table were the first to fall. Eva Iosif was eliminated in sixth place (€23,150), and Abdula Atila fell in fifth place (€30,550). Jose De La Guardia then busted in fourth place (€36,600). American Joseph Ebanks was dominated when he moved all in with Q-J and found out he was up against the A-J of Darcout. The board bricked out and Darcout took a 3-1 chip advantage into the final against Simon Munz. Darcourt played aggressive in the final heads-up match to win the tournament and he impressed his opponent in the process. “Darcourt deserved to win. I would have loved to have really attacked him in the heads-up but he just wouldn’t fold and I didn’t have enough chips,” said Munz. The final hand saw Munz get it all in with J-7 in the hole on a 9-4-2 flop. Darcourt called him down with Q-9 and after the turn and river brought a queen and a 4, Darcourt won the tournament with two pair. Final-Table Results: 1st: Guillaume Darcourt — €125,846 + $25,000 WPT World Championship seat 2nd: Simon Münz — €93,400 3rd: Joseph Ebanks — €59,750 4th: Jose De La Guardia — €36,600 5th: Abdula Atila — €30,550 6th: Eva Iosif — €23,150 The next WPT event is the WPT Championship that will take place at Bellagio in Las Vegas from April 18-24. The next European WPT event is the WPT Grand Prix de Paris that will run from May 8-13.
