Englishman Timothy Timotheau was awarded the top prize of €86,680 at the European Masters of Poker Lisbon , after beating 393 players including many top pros such as Dave “Devilfish” Ulliott, Joao Barbosa, Johan Storakers, and former champion Anton Wigg. It took only six hands heads up between Timotheau and Lithuanian Povilas Purtokas to find a winner and the final hand came when Purtokas completed the blinds and Timotheau checked. Both then checked the K-7-4 rainbow flop and a jack was the next card out. Timotheau bet 140,000 and Purtokas moved all in. Timotheau made the call and flipped over K-9 for top pair, leaving Purtokas clinging to two outs with his pocket tens. It was a 4 on the river and that was it for Purtokas. He left the event with €53,190 for second place. The final table payouts were: 1. Timothy Timotheau – €86,680 2. Povilas Purtokas – €53,190 3. Henrik Torsteenson – €34,672 4: Diogo Borges – €22,064 5: Paul Lucey – €17,336 6: Joao Candeias – 13,396 7: Mikael Tholander – €11,820 8: Mariusz Beranden – €10,244 9: Pyry Oksanen – €8,668 The tour now moves on from Casino Estoril in Lisbon, Portugal, to Campione in Italy from May 27-30. Qualifiers for the €1,000 + €100 buy-in main event are currently up and running across the Entraction network, on such sites as 24hPoker.com, C4A.com, NoIQPoker.com, Pokerihuone.com, Pokerdassi.com, and Potraiser.com. Players can qualify for as little as €2 or 200 VIP points. Each day there are 32 satellites which feed into weekly qualifiers taking place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays at 8.40 p.m. ( CET ). On Tuesdays and Thursdays the buy-in is €100 and there are five €2,000 packages guaranteed in each, and on Sundays the buy-in is €200 and there are eight €2,000 packages guaranteed. The winner in Italy will join Timothy Timotheau, Maciej Lipny , and Vladimir Mefodichev in the EMOP winner’s circle for season II.
