PokerStars.net NAPT Venetian Main Event: Day 3

Date JULY 27 2022
It was payday on day three of the PokerStars North American Poker Tour Main Event at the Venetian. A total of 149 players had survived up until that point, but only 128 would actually make the money. The short stacks quickly found themselves on the rail and it wasn’t long before the tournament moved to hand-for-hand play. The unfortunate bubble boy ended being Daniel “RekRul” Schreiber, who made a move at the wrong time, running into an opponent’s pocket aces. There were members of Team PokerStars Pro still in the hunt at the start of the day and although all of them made the money, none of them will be advancing to the penultimate day of the tournament. Greg Raymer (102nd), Tom McEvoy (101st, and Bill Chen (81st) were all outdone by Vanessa Rousso (pictured right) who just missed out on day four when she busted in 25th place. Of the three big stacks that started the day, only two are still around and only one of those has maintained his status near the top of the leaderboard. Andy “BKice” Seth, who led for nearly two days, had to settle for 26th place as he saw his run come to an end. Andrew “LuckyChewy” Lichtenberger is still in contention, but he has some work to do coming back 17th of 24. Steve “MrSmokey1” Billirakis stayed strong and finished the day right where he started it, in third place overall. Sam “KingKobeMVP” Stein (pictured left) sits in second place thanks to a gift from Olivier “livb112” Busquet. Stein raised to 27,000 in early position, Busquet reraised to 90,000 and Stein reraised to 259,000. Busquet thought it over before moving all in and Stein snap called with pocket kings. Busquet showed big slick and failed to connect, giving the massive 2 million pot to Stein. The young pro finished the day with 3,409,000, second only to Eric “blizair” Blair’s 3,700,000. The players will continue play at noon until the final table of eight is determined.
