PokerStars EPT London Main Event -- Day 1B
Article ID 00042904
Author Julio Rodriguez
Date JULY 27 2022
If yesterday’s day 1A field of 305 was impressive then day 1B field of 425 was astounding. The story of the day was clearly the record-breaking number of entrants for a London tournament, shattering last year’s solid number of 596. All of those £5,000 buy-ins obviously amounted to one hell of a prize pool and the final 104 players will be un-proportionately splitting up £3,540,500 with the winner taking home the EPT trophy. Here’s a look at the final table payouts: 1. £850,000 2. £530,000 3. £285,000 4. £227,000 5. £173,000 6. £124,000 7. £87,000 8. £50,100 If you wondering how much first-place money is in U.S. dollars, it just barely eeks out more than the recent WSOP Europe main event with $1,354,042. Getting back to the action at hand, day 1B bore a striking resemblance to day 1A with start-to-finish action and field full of notable professionals. Card Player’s own Barry Shulman (pictured right) looked to keep up his momentum coming off his WSOP -E victory and one of the most grueling final tables in history. The extra day of sleep clearly helped as Shulman amassed a more-than-healthy stack of 142,400 by the end of the day, good for the top ten. Another pro with a great day in the books was none other than WSOP Player of the Year Jeffrey Lisandro (pictured left) . The Aussie-Italian player won a huge pot late in the night against Terrence Chan that saw him climb to the top of the chip rankings. Lisandro and Chan saw a flop of Q-Q-8 when all the money went in. Lisandro held K-Q for trips, but was behind to Chan’s pocket eights for a full house. Of course, the king hit the turn and Lisandro picked up the biggest pot of the tournament thus far. He ended the day with about 236,000 and is believed to be the overnight chip leader. Not everyone did so well and a who’s who of well-known players found themselves on the outside looking in, including Jason Mercier , Joe Hachem , Matthew Glantz , Matt Hawrilenko , Humberto Brenes , Tom Dwan , Bertrand Grospellier and Dario Minieri . Other notables to shoot up the leader board included J.C. Tran , Steven Levy , Eric Liu and David Ulliott . The action resumes at noon tomorrow as the 300 or so remaining players combine into one field and continue their march towards the final table.
