The first day of play at the World Poker Tour $3,500 no-limit hold’em championship event at the Borgata Poker Open attracted 326 players today in Atlantic City. By the end of the night that original field had shrunk to 168 players, and those survivors will be back in action for day 2 on Monday, September 21. Tomorrow will feature day 1B action and the field is expected to be much larger. Many players surged to large chip stacks early in the day to start the tournament. Among them were Ray Henson and Chino Rheem, who each jumped above 100,000. While Henson survived the day with 120,000, Rheem was not so lucky. He met his doom in successive hands, first he ran into the quad deuces of an opponent, and then he was finished off when he moved all-in preflop and saw another opponent turn up pocket aces.Players that had a strong day and find themselves near the top of the leader board along with Henson include chip leader Frank Molinari (169,000), Soheil Shemseddin (145,000), and Steve Brecher (139,150). Jonathan Little and Michael Binger each ended the day with more than 100,000.Here is a list of the notable eliminations on day 1A: Dwyte Pilgrim, David Baker, Allen Bari, Alex Bolotin, Amnon Filippi, Cornel Andrew Cimpan, Chino Rheem, Jeremy Joseph, Steve Dannenman, Quinn Do, Steven Levy, Victor Ramdin, Tony Cavezza, Kenna James, Nick Binger, J.C.
