The PokerStars.com European Poker Tour kicks off today at 12:30 p.m. (local time) in Warsaw, Poland for the second time ever, and will run until Sunday.Over the next two days, a maximum of 400 entrants will sit down and try to outlast each other in the 25,000 PLN (Polish zloty) buy-in no-limit hold’em event.Last season’s field was small with a turnout of 217, but of that 217 there were 50 Team PokerStars Pros and many other big names. This made for some great poker action all the way down to the final table which included Ludovic Lacay , Dario Minieri , Andrea Benelli , and Arnaud Mattern .Ten former EPT winners entered the tournament and eight made it to day 3. Former champ Arnaud Mattern was the only one to make it to the final table, but it was Joao Barbosa , who, coincidentally, was celebrating his 26th birthday on the day, who took the €367,141 for first place, and was crowned champion. Barbosa cashed a total of six times on last season’s Tour .Blinds begin today at 50-100 with 60-minute levels. This will increase to 75-minute levels on day 2. Card Player will be posting recaps of each day.
