Croatia may have gone into the final day of the PokerStars World Cup of Poker VI as chip leader, but in the end it was the Chinese Taipei team consisting of Wan Hsan Lai, Wen-Hao Pan, Tsu-Chi Wang, Tseng Wei Ming, and captain Raymond Wu who rose to the top after almost 10 hours of play. Play was not as fast as expected, despite a quick-paced structure, and the Chilean team, who started the day short-stacked with only 20,000 in chips, were the first to go four hours into the day, at the hands of Taipei. Two hours after this, the Norwegian team, captained by Johnny Lodden , hit the rail, and one hour later, Finland followed. Luca Pagano and his Italian team were next, and after the dinner break, Jan Heitman’s Germany hit the rail, despite a brief comeback from second last in chips to chip leader, throughout the day. The U.S. team led by Vanessa Rousso were knocked out by Taipei in fourth place, and Canada followed in third, leaving Taipei to fight Croatia for the top spot. In a matter of minutes Taipei were celebrating wildly. Wen-Hao Pan sat with the team’s well-earned 461,000 in chips against Croatian captain Denis Kelemen and his team’s 79,000. Kelemen pushed all in with J 9 and Taipei made the call with A 2 . It was all drama and action as Croatia made bottom two pair on the flop and Taipei hit a flush draw. The turn brought another spade for the flush, and with no full house to follow on the river for Croatia, it was all over. Here are the full results: First Chinese Taipei $100,000 ($20,000 per person) Second Croatia $70,000 ($14,000 per person) Third Canada $50,000 ($10,000 per person) Fourth America $30,000 ($6,000 per person) Fifth Germany $10,000 ($2,000 per person) Sixth Italy $10,000 ($2,000 per person) Seventh Finland $10,000 ($2,000 per person) Eighth Norway $5,000 ($1,000 per person) Ninth Chile $5,000 ($1,000 per person)
