European Poker Tour -- Vilamoura Day 2
Article ID 00041696
Author Ryan Lucchesi
Date JULY 27 2022
Day 2 competition at the European Poker Tour Vilamoura €5,000 no-limit hold’em main event has ended and there is 70 players remaining from the original 384 players that entered the event. The money bubble will burst when 56 remain tomorrow so the pace of play should be interesting to watch when play begins. You can follow the tournament live on the PokerStars blog feed . The overnight chip leader is Brandon Cantu (pictured right) , who ended play with 557,400. Other professionals that finished the day with strong stacks included Team PokerStars pro members J.P. Kelly (314,000), Marcin Horecki (280,500), and William Thorson (259,100). Cantu aggressively built a monolithic chip stack as he most often does in big poker tournaments during the day and he is now in a good position to make the final table. He has a chance to become the third player to win poker’s triple crown. He has already won World Series of Poker and World Poker Tour titles so an EPT crown would complete the trifecta for the young American. Cantu is still a long way from making the final table at this point, but it is something intriguing to keep an eye on during day 3. Check back at CardPlayer.com tomorrow for another summary of the action, and be sure to follow along with the PokerStars blog feed daily during the event.
