On Friday, Caesars Interactive Entertainment, which owns the World Series of Poker brand, announced a long-term agreement with Microgame for the Italian poker market. Under the agreement, CIE and Microgame will work together to market the WSOP brand in Italy, with both online and land-based poker tournaments and promotions. Microgame operates the largest poker network in the newly-regulated online market in Italy.“This agreement is a logical step in our European and global expansion strategy to partner with leading local companies as we look to expand the WSOP brand,” Caesars Interactive Entertainment CEO Mitch Garber wrote in a press release. “Microgame is a clear leader in Italy and we look forward to working hard together to grow the poker market.”As part of the agreement, Microgame becomes the exclusive satellite provider in Italy of WSOP events. Microgame will also act as the exclusive preregistration office for Italian players for the WSOP main event in Las Vegas. This past November, Italian Filippo Candio finished fourth in the event for a payday of $3,092,545.
