PokerStars European Poker Tour Deauville -- Day 2
Article ID 00041389
Author Rebecca McAdam
Date JULY 27 2022
Day 2 of the PokerStars European Poker Tour Deauville saw 500 players become 206 and among those perhaps contemplating what went wrong along the way is Viktor Blom . Blom was in the upper reaches of the leader board at start of play, and two levels later, he was putting his coat on. Taking a hit with pocket aces versus pocket fives (which made a set), the online wizard then was moved to a new table and just over an hour later he was gone. His final hand came when he was down to 28,700 and three-bet all in after a raise from Cyril Hanouna. Hanouna eventually called with A 10 and Blom flipped over 6 6 . The board dramatically fell 7 5 4 K 4 and Hanouna flushed Blom out of the event. Others to join him on the other side of the rail were Mihai Manole , Fernando Brito , Antoine Saout , and Team PokerStars Pro players Nacho Barbero, Christophe de Meulder , and Pieter de Korver . While some made movements down and out, others were quickly chipping up. Matthew Franklin, who busted Daniel Negreanu on day 1B and James Mitchell on day 2 soared higher and higher throughout the day, as did Frenchman Fabrice Soulier . Other familiar names making their way up the leader board were Praz Bansi , Bertrand Grospellier , and Irishman Thomas Finneran . The player with the most chips by end of play however was Swedish PokerStars qualifier David Sonelin with 438,900. He is closely followed by Soulier with 390,700. Here is the top 10 going into day 3: David Sonelin (Sweden) 438,900 FabriceSoulier (France) 390,700 Sergey Kislinskiy (Russia) 390,200 Eric Sfez (France) 369,000 Mathew Frankland (UK) 353,600 Martin Jacobson (Sweden) 343,600 RaphaelKroll (France) 339,200 Fabian Holling (UK) 333,300 Anthony Hnatow (France) 332,400 Laurent Lagreve (France) 312,300 Day 3 will witness 128 players celebrating the bursting of the money bubble.
