After Gambling911.com reported on Friday that 10-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Doyle Brunson will be leaving his online poker site, DoylesRoom, the 77-year-old poker pro showed up at the Bellagio on Saturday for the $25,000 World Poker Tour Championship sporting a site t-shirt. When asked for comment on the situation with the online site, Brunson refused and said he had nothing to say. However, Steve Gross , who is still sponsored by DoylesRoom, confirmed to Card Player that the poker legend is leaving the online business. “He wants out because of the potential legal ramifications,” said Gross. However, according to Gross, Brunson may return to the site once the legal mess in the country regarding online poker is sorted out. Other members of the one-time Brunson 10 , a group of young poker pros sponsored by the site, such as Chris Moorman , Amit Makhija , and David Sands , were in attendance as well but were not wearing DoylesRoom gear. Moorman was representing PartyPoker in the tournament. According to Jenny Woo, of Gambling911.com, Brunson had said the following: “Reluctantly, I have decided to terminate my endorsement contract with Doylesroom.com. It pains me to leave at this time. I have aspirations of reentering the online poker business when the United States Government passes legislation, that officially legalize online poker sites. Doylesroom management has decided to continue to serve U.S. customers. Although they believe they have the right to market the name Doylesroom and to use my name and likeness for a period of time, I have asked them not to. Good luck-Shuffle up and deal.” DoylesRoom, which in January announced it was leaving the Cake Poker Network and recently underwent software updates, has not issued any statement on the rumors of Brunson leaving. The site still boasts that it is “Home to Doyle Brunson The Godfather of Poker.”
